While NBC’s freshman drama series This Is Us is on break, star Justin Hartley appears set to head to the big screen. Deadline was the first to report that Hartley has boarded STX Entertainment’s forthcoming comedy A Bad Moms Christmas, sequel to the sleeper hit from last summer.
Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn are all back for further shenanigans, this time steeped in the familial stress that comes with the holiday season – particularly as they are joined by their own moms (roles of which have yet to be cast). Joining the maternal mayhem, Hartley will portray Ty Swindle, a firefighter-exotic dancer who cements a connection of sorts with Hahn’s Carla. The Hangover alums Jon Lucas and Scott Moore return for the second installment, as both writers and directors.
A soap veteran prior to This Is Us, Hartley appeared on Passions as well as The Young and the Restless; he also appeared in Smallville and the night-time soap Revenge. This Is Us proved a big ratings winner this past season for NBC – and a source of many a tear throughout the current television season – and has been renewed for two more seasons.
A Bad Moms Christmas will screens on November 3rd.
