Lonnie Chavis has been casted for the upcoming indie thriller The Boy Behind The Door, where he will star as a young boy named Bobby who gets kidnapped alongside his best friend on their way to Little League practice. Stuck in the middle of nowhere with no means of calling for help, Bobby must figure out a way to escape and rescue his friend before it is too late.
The Boy Behind The Door will be the first feature film for directors David Charbonier and Justin Powell. Its cast includes Kristin Bauer van Staten (True Blood), Scott Michael Foster (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Micah Hauptman (Rust Creek), and Ezra Dewey, the co-star. Information about production and release date has not been revealed yet.
Chavis rose to fame at such a young age for his first recurring role on NBC’s hit dramedy series This Is Us, starring Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia and Sterling K Brown. Chavis was only 9 years old when he first played a younger version of the character Randall, portrayed by Emmy Award winning actor Sterling K Brown. In September 2016, Chavis was featured in Showtime’s White Famous pilot as ‘Trevor’, the son of comedian Jay Pharaoh’s character Floyd. In addition, the young actor plays the role of Cameron in the Disney feature film Magic Camp that stars Adam Devine and Jeffrey Tambor.
According to Deadline, he will next star opposite David Oyelowo and Rosario Dawson in the upcoming drama The Water Man, which will be produced by Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Films. Chavis’ acting career in feature films has only just begun.
