Divergent star Theo James and Dear White People‘s breakout actress Tessa Thompson will be rounding out the cast of John Michael McDonagh’s black comedy War On Everyone. The film stars Alexander Skarsgard (HBO’s True Blood) and Michael Pena (End of Watch) as two corrupt cops in New Mexico who are in the habit of blackmailing and framing criminals. Things take a turn for the worse when they encounter a criminal who seems even more twisted and dangerous than themselves. Principal photography on the movie is taking place now in Albuquerque.
This is McDonagh’s third film after the Brandon Gleeson starrers The Guard (2011) -the highest grossing Irish independent film of all time – and Calvary (2014). War On Everyone will be a change of pace for the writer/director, as he moves away from Irish subjects and settings and turns his eye toward the U.S. With a diverse cast of both established actors and stars on the rise, the transition should prove to be a smooth one.
James will be keeping quite busy with several films lined up opposite a host of young actresses. He will next star with Dakota Fanning (Now is Good) in Franny, The Secret Scripture with Rooney Mara (Girl with The Dragon Tattoo), London Fields with Cara Delevingne (soon-to-be starring in Paper Towns), and of course the Divergent series’ last two installments opposite Shailene Woodley.
Thompson’s name will also be on the tip of moviegoers’ tongues come fall when she appears in the Rocky sequel Creed alongside Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station).
