Superstar Justin Bieber has signed on to appear in the male modeling comedy sequel Zoolander 2, now filming overseas. The singer announced his involvement Wednesday morning with the short and sweet hashtag #Zoolander2 attached to the above photo. Whether he will be making a cameo as himself or playing a whole new character (based on his differing hairstyle in the photo) is unclear.
Bieber will not be the only non-actor on the casting sheet, as he joins fellow music industry mega-star Kanye West and reality star/social media mogul Kim Kardashian West. This will be one of the singer’s first actual acting credits (not counting the infamous CSI episode in which he is repeatedly shot to death), however, Bieber is no stranger to the box office after churning out the highly successful autobiographical documentary Justin Bieber: Never Say Never.
Several other new cast members will join Bieber. Along with Penelope Cruz (Volver) and Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), the most recent additions are current SNL cast member Kyle Mooney, Olivia Munn (HBO’s The Newsroom), Fred Armisen (TV’s Portlandia) and Billy Zane reprising his scene-stealing cameo from the first Zoolander film. Other returning actors will include director/producer Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Christine Taylor, and Will Ferrell.
Fans can check out Bieber’s feature debut when Zoolander 2 is released on February 12, 2016.
