Netflix will release a movie about Ted Kaczynski better known as the Unabomber. Russell Crowe, Jacob Tremblay, Shailene Woodley and Annabelle Wallis will all star in the film titled Unabom according to Deadline. The film is inspired by true events.
Jacob Tremblay will portray a young Kaczynski. Russell Crowe will portray a “controversial Harvard professor” Henry Murray, who conducted psychological experiments on Kaczynski according to Tudum. Annabelle Wallis will play Christiana Morgan, who co-directed alongside Murray in the psychological experiments. Shailene Woodley will play Joanne Miller who is the FBI agent that led the manhunt to find Kaczynski.
The script was written by Sam Chalsen and Nelson Greaves and will be directed by Janus Metz. Metz told Tudum a bit about the film, “Unabom is a story about a young man who feels increasingly disenfranchised by society and decide to take up violence as a means of revenge…We crosscut between two timelines, roughly speaking: the making of the Unabomber and the capture of the Unabomber.” Metz was intrigued by the Unabomber’s story citing that it was the FBI’s longest and most expensive manhunt. Also, Metz did not know about Kaczynski’s time at Harvard that contributed to “a dark chapter in American history.”
Unabom is in production now and does not yet have a set release date.
