‘The Sims’ Is Getting A Film Adaptation Produced By Margot Robbie

The popular simulation video game The Sims is getting a feature film adaptation following successful nostalgiac IP films. Loki director Kate Herron will direct and co-write the screenplay with Briony Redman, and Barbie star Margot Robbie will produce the film through her banner LuckyChap.

The Sims is a fairly simple game franchise where one can live their ideal life through a customizable avatar. The main action focuses on the avatar succeeding in goals like building a suburban house or having a family. In addition to the suburbs, the franchise has branched out to cities, high schools, and supernatural themes like werewolves and vampires.

Even though The Sims doesn’t have a real plotline, there is a strong chance it could be a great adaptation, especially when LuckyChap has already brought Barbie to the big screen. Like The Sims, the Barbie doll line focused on simple goals for children to play in their figurative sandboxes. While it might not have the same feminist themes as Barbie, it is possible that The Sims film could cover other serious themes and gain acclaim.

Margot Robbie and LuckyChap received acclaim for their work on the Barbie movie, raking in billions of dollars and impressing critics worldwide. In addition, the company was also responsible for the arthouse film Saltburn, which has gotten popular on social media due to its anti-capitalist edge and depiction of toxic queer relationships.

There is currently no official release date for this film.
