The Sandman, Netflix’s massive comic-to-screen hit from summer 2022, has begun casting for Thor, Loki, and other new characters to star in upcoming episodes.
The Norse gods play a large role in the comic series and the audio drama. Loki is one of Morpheus’ familiar enemies and isn’t unlike the MCU version of Loki that so many have come to know and some have come to love – he’s more cunning, but every bit as powerful and conniving as Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. Thor, however, is very different from what fans of the MCU might think of when they imagine the god of thunder.
As for when the second “season” is coming out– well, no one is calling it a season at all. Because of the show’s comic structure, the show runners have avoided using the word ‘seasons’ and kept to ‘stories’ or ‘episodes,’ which may mean that there might even be a movie-length episode or a batch of episodes released at a time. Everything is approved through Neil Gaiman, the creator of The Sandman comics.
“Nobody is going to be happier about this than The Sandman cast and crew; they are the biggest Sandman fans there are,” said Gaiman after the renewal was announced. “And now it’s time to get back to work. There’s a family meal ahead, after all. And Lucifer is waiting for Morpheus to return to Hell…”
Although there is no confirmed release date for the episodes, fans can probably expect to see the show make its comeback sometime in 2024.
