Director Jeremiah S. Chechik (National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Benny & Joon) will debut his first feature film in 15 years, the winsome romantic comedy The Right Kind Of Wrong, at the Gala Presentation section of the Toronto Film Festival.
The scipt is an adaptation of Tim Sandlin’s novel Sex and Sunsets, and was written by Megan Martin. Blending romantic comedy with flights of magical realism, The Right Kind of Wrong tells the story of Leo, played by Ryan Kwanten (True Blood), an eccentric would-be writer who works as a full-time dishwasher.
Leo is recently divorced and has to live with the daily humiliation of his ex-wife’s best-selling book and internet blog, Why You Suck. By chance, Leo falls in love with Collette, played by Sara Canning (Vampire Diaries), on her wedding day. Once Leo is smitten nothing can stop him from doing anything and everything he can to convince Collette not to go through with the wedding. He must convince her they are right for each other and belong together.
Funny lady Catherine O’Hara, a favorite comedic actress of Christopher Guest (Best In Show, For Your Consideration) and Tim Burton (Frankenweenie) also stars, along with Will Sasso (3 Stooges).
Rachel Portman, who worked with Checkik on Benny & Joon, composed the score. Portman just completed the score for the Diablo Cody – Julianne Hough feature Paradise.
