A child’s dream to witness a realistic dinosaur walking around came to life when Steven Spielberg and his team made Jurassic Park. Released in the summer of 1993, Jurassic Park became not only the highest-grossing film of that year, but also the highest grossing of all time. It held that record for four years until Titanic released in 1997. Based on the Michael Crichton novel of the same name, it told the story of how scientists brought dinosaurs back to life, filling a nature preserve with the creatures for the amusement of the pubic and the profitability of a corporation. Chronicling the first interaction between modern humans and dinosaurs, both the book and movie found major success, spawning numerous sequels including Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which released this year.
