The Oddly Named ‘Plane’ Trailer Showcases Gerard Butler Piloting a Plane into a Warzone

Gerard Butler has been the go-to actor for those cheesy action films, and his newest project appears to be no different. In the aptly named Plane, Butler stars as Captain Brodie Torrence, a commercial pilot who is forced to land on an island in the Philippines after a storm nearly takes down his aircraft. Soon after, he and his passengers find themselves at the mercy of some local militants. Will they fight back and get off the island, or will they suffer the unfortunate fate of death? Who knows, but you can find out when Plane releases in theaters on January 13! The film is written by Charles Cumming and J.P. Davis and is directed by French director Jean-Francois Richet (best known for the loose remake of Assault on Precinct 13).

The film is produced by Gerard Butler and notable action producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura under his production company. The supporting cast includes Mike Coltier as a mysterious prisoner transfer, Yoson An, Tony Goldwyn, Daniella Pineda, and Kelly Gale. Lionsgate will be distributing the film, and from the looks of the trailer, it showcases more character development over action sequences. Whether that is true remains to be seen, but the film will be in theaters on January 13.

Rick Rice: A kid at heart who has loved watching movies from a very young age. Credit must be given to Siskel and Ebert whose film reviews educated me on the world of film inspired me to become a writer myself. I love to read books that range from various topics, copious amounts of research is something that excites me and of course sitting in a movie theater is a highlight of my life. When I'm not watching movies or reading I enjoy listening to foreign music and working hard on finishing my short stories. Currently working on my degree in English with a plan to enroll into Film School with the dream of becoming a screenwriter and director.
