‘The Munsters’ Casts Catherine Schell in Her First Feature Role Since Her Return to Acting

Since its announcement, Rob Zombie (Halloween) has not been shy about posting production images of his upcoming The Munsters film. Zombie confirmed that classic actress Catherine Schell had been cast as a new character Zoya Krupp in his recent post.

Schell started acting in the 60s; some of her most memorable roles were in The Return of the Pink Panther, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, and Moon Zero Two. After working for decades, she retired from acting in the mid-90s. However, she never lost touch with her fanbase during this time, appearing at conventions and even helming her own autobiography in 2016.

Schell returned to acting in 2020, playing a key role in BBC’s Dracula miniseries. With this behind her, The Munsters is her first feature film since her retirement.

In Zombie’s post, we can see Schell looking off-screen, draped in heavy makeup and jewelry. Little is known about her character as she is new to the franchise, but this look seems like it would mesh well with The Munsters world.

The Munsters does not have a release date yet, but it is set to simultaneously appear in theaters and on Peacock. Aside from Schell, the film stars Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman Munster, Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily Munster, and Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa Munster. The film is written and directed by Rob Zombie.
