Upcoming drama The Imitation Game, based on Andrew Hodge’s book Alan Turing: The Enigma, already had a few talented stars attached to it, including Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightly. Now it looks like the rest of the cast is set, featuring Mark Strong, Matthew Goode, Charles Dance (Gosford Park), Allen Leech (The Sweeney), and Matthew Beard (An Education ).
The film will be helmed by Headhunters’ Morten Tyldum and the screenplay is the first feature penned by Graham Moore. The story follows English mathematician and logician, Alan Turing, as he cracks the German enigma code during World War II. Solving the code meant understanding enemy tactics giving the Allies a huge advantage. Despite his integral role in winning the war, however, Turing was persecuted for his homosexuality by the government. He ultimately committed suicide in 1954.
Strong most recently appeared in most theaters around the world in Welcome to the Punch, an action thriller co-starring James McAvoy (X-Men: First Class), and the animated feature Justin and the Knights of Valour, which also features the voices of Antonio Banderas (Shrek 2), Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2), and Saoirse Ronan (The Host), but neither feature has U.S. distribution.
The Imitation Game is set to release sometime in 2014.
