New images from the highly anticipated Doctor Strange sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness have been released from Empire Magazine, some of which reveal big details about the film. One image in particular, as Collider reports, is captioned “Strange stands before the Illuminati”, which confirms the inclusion of the organization in the film. The Illuminati is a pivotal group that, in addition to being composed of some of the most powerful beings from Earth, they also make significant decisions to influence the future of the universe. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is another tentpole film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will likely be essential in unfolding the events of the rest of Phase 4. It follows up on the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home and follows Strange in the aftermath of his decision to tamper with space and time.
Benedict Cumberbatch returns as Doctor Strange himself along with Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch. Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, and Chiwetel Ejiofor are also reprising their roles. This will be Xochitl Gomez’s first outing in the MCU fray as famed comic character, America Chavez. There are sure to be cameos and surprise appearances from other Marvel characters as well, including Charles Xavier (alias known as Professor X), as revealed in the Super Bowl trailer.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness releases in theaters on May 6.
