The Games Begin in First Trailer for ‘Jigsaw’

The Saw franchise started as a short film back in 2003 which led to the first film being released on Halloween in 2004 and led to new consecutive installments for the next seven years. The Saw franchise has been a monster Box Office success with a total of $873 Million worldwide despite mixed to negative reviews from most critics and is one of the highest grossing horror franchises of all time.

Being seven years since the last film Saw: The Final Chapter or Saw 3D, I was surprised to hear of the series making a return. The film has an entirely new cast along with Tobin Bell reprising his role as the Jigsaw killer. The film is written by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolbberg (both of whom penned the scripts to Piranha 3D & Sorority Row) and is directed by The Spierig Brothers (Predestination & Daybreakers). The cast will include Laura Vandervoort ( TV‘s Supergirl), Mandela Van Peebles (TV’s Roots), Brittany Allen (Incontrol), Paul Braunstein (Jesus Henry Christ), Callum Keith Rennie (Battlestar Galactica), and Cle’ Bennett (Tv’s Heroes Reborn).

The plot takes place 10 years after the death of Jigsaw (Tobin Bell). A series of dead bodies are being discovered in the city with the modus operandi of the Jigsaw killer. The traps are set and everyone knows the rules. Live or die, make your choice.

Jigsaw takes back Halloween when the games begin on October 27.

Rick Rice: A kid at heart who has loved watching movies from a very young age. Credit must be given to Siskel and Ebert whose film reviews educated me on the world of film inspired me to become a writer myself. I love to read books that range from various topics, copious amounts of research is something that excites me and of course sitting in a movie theater is a highlight of my life. When I'm not watching movies or reading I enjoy listening to foreign music and working hard on finishing my short stories. Currently working on my degree in English with a plan to enroll into Film School with the dream of becoming a screenwriter and director.
