‘The Flash’ Solo Movie is Still Coming, Says Producer

Recently, The Flash producer Barbara Muschietti responded to a fan on Instagram when asked about the production status of The Flash’s first solo film, to which she replied with simple, “It’s coming! News very soon!” per CinemaBlend. This comes as pleasant surprise for DC and superhero fans in general, as the DC Extended Universe has been relatively slow to give any updates on the progress of Barry Allen’s standalone movie. Before the announcement of The Flash’s forthcoming news broke, DC has been teasing and promoting other upcoming projects, such as Wonder Woman 1984, Aquaman 2 and a Suicide Squad sequel.

As of now, the film is set to be released on June 2, 2022 and will be directed by Muschietti’s brother, Andy. It will seemingly star Ezra Miller once again as The Flash and will be executive produced by Zack Snyder and his wife, Deborah.

Ezra Miler’s Flash first appeared in a main role in 2017’s Justice League, which was considered critical and financial failure. That being said, DC also announced this week that the illusive, mythical “Snyder-Cut,” or the film’s first cut by producer Zack Snyder before he stepped back from production after his daughter committed suicide and was replaced by Joss Whedon, will finally be available on HBO’s streaming service, HBO Max, in 2021, per Variety.
