Steven Spielberg’s semi-autobiographical movie, The Fabelmans, released its official trailer this week.
The Universal Pictures coming-of-age film premiered at the Toronto Film festival and received good reviews so far. This also marks Spielberg’s first appearance at the festival. When speaking at the festival, Spielberg made it clear that this film does not mark his retirement when talking about his exciting new film, despite multiple rumors that claimed otherwise.
The Fabelmans tells the story of Spielberg’s discovery of a family secret changing the course of his life. The movie shows the way that film has influenced his life and the importance it created for Spielberg as it follows his self-discovery and redemption story.
19 year old Gabriel Labelle is starring as the main character. Labelle revealed that before arriving to set for the first shoot he was unaware of the casting. When asked at the Toronto Film Festival Labelle noted that Spielberg “scared the s*** out of me,” when describing the moment he knew he was playing the main character in the film.
The film is also packed with other notable actors and actresses including Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, and many more. The picture is being produced by Tony Kushner and Kristie Macosko.
The movie will be released on November 11, 2022.
