Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt have reunited on set for The Devil Wears Prada 2. The film is the long-awaited sequel to the iconic 2006 film, which grossed $326 million worldwide and earned Streep an Oscar nomination for best actress.
The first Devil Wears Prada followed Hathaway’s character, Andy Sachs, an aspiring journalist who lands the job of personal assistant for Streep’s character, Miranda Priestly, the ruthless editor-in-chief of a high-profile fashion magazine, Runway. At her job, she finds a frenemy in Miranda’s senior assistant, Emily, played by Blunt, and a friendship with the magazine’s art director, Nigel, played by Stanley Tucci.
Plot details for the film’s sequel remain scarce, but it reportedly follows Miranda as she navigates her career amid the decline of magazine publishing. She faces off against Emily, as she is now a high-powered luxury executive with advertising dollars that Miranda needs. Returning with Hathaway, Streep, and Blunt for the sequel are Tucci, Tracie Thomas, who played Andy’s best friend, and Tibor Feldman, who played the chairman of Runway’s parent company. Director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna are also returning, making for a large cast and crew reunion.
New cast members for the film include Kenneth Branagh, who is set to play Miranda Priestly’s husband, as well as Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, and Pauline Chalamet in undisclosed roles. Broadway stars Helen J. Shen and Conrad Ricamora, plus comedian Caleb Hearon, will also appear.
