The SnyderCut subreddit is home to a myriad of people who discuss DCU thoughts and opinions. This is also where a review bombing threat was made against the upcoming Superman movie. One user encouraged others to “Stand up and fight for SnyderVerse” and post spoilers, give the movie bad reviews and reserve tickets without purchasing them. The post was deleted from the site but there were many screenshots and quotes gathered by sources including SuperHeroHype.
The moderators of the subreddit put out a statement regarding the post. They explained that the post was not so much against guidelines but more so looked down upon. They said “We support everyone’s rights to vote with their wallets by choosing to not see a movie. But we do not support any dishonesty or manipulation aimed at stopping someone else from choosing to see a movie.”
James Gunn responded by saying “Lol I think we’ll survive… I’m not sure the eight people that listen to that guy (I’m going to go out on a limb and guess it’s a guy) are going to impact the course of events..” The statement was gathered from IGN. Gunn has said he likes the discourse. He does not want everyone to always love what he does. He said ” These people help us, because you don’t want everything to seem 100% positive.”
Superman is flying into theaters on July 11. Once the movie is released people can form their own opinions and share them on the SnyderCut subreddit if they feel inclined.
