‘The Apprentice’ Runs Into More Trouble As It Approaches A Finalized Release Date

Just ahead of the 2024 presidential election, the biopic about Donald Trump is looking to release right around the time that the polls will open up to voters. However, ahead of its distribution, it’s facing a fair amount of trouble to get to audiences.

Directed by Ali Abbasi, The Apprentice shows the early days of former President Donald Trump, depicting his time in the business world, including the deals he had to make during his ascent.

The younger Trump in the film is played by Sebastian Stan. Appearing in other films like Black Swan and First Man, Stan’s most iconic role is that of Bucky Barnes, or the Winter Soldier, in the ongoing MCU. His next appearance as the character is slated to be in 2025’s Thunderbolts.

The film itself has run into trouble with the real life counterpart of Trump. One part depicts Trump raping his wife, which subsequently lead to retaliation from Trump’s own legal team.

On top of that, Deadline pointed out that, although an October release date was close to being locked down, the content within The Apprentice hasn’t sat well with some of the companies involved. One company in particular was Kinematics, who was responsible for funding the film, but Deadline also stated that their sources told them that it is in the process being scooped up from them.
