The Los Angeles Festival of Movies is an annual festival that showcases independent films from around the world. The festival is available due to a film non-profit Mezzanine as well as Mubi (LAFM 2025). The 2025 festival will be its second year.
The first film that will be screened is Magic Farm by filmmaker Amalia Ulman. The film is satire and follows a group of documentarians who accidentally wind up in the wrong country during a production. The film stars Chloë Sevigny, Simon Rex, and Alex Wolff. The film made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January but will soon make its Los Angeles premiere.
There are multiple films being presented. The films include Room Temperature by Dennis Cooper and Zac Farley. The film follows a family-owned haunted house that becomes more intense. Another film is a drama involving a hurricane Alexandra Simpson titled No Sleep Till. Also, a film that has premiered at Sundance as well as SXSW is Dead Lover by Grace Glowicki, which will soon be shown at the Los Angeles Festival of Movies.
The founders of the festival, Micah Gottlieb and Sarah Winsall, told Variety “After a devastating start to the year for Los Angeles, we feel more inspired than ever about bringing our community together…it’s our pleasure to provide a holistic view of independent cinema today.”
Tickets for the festival go on sale beginning March 10. The screenings will take place at Vidiots, 2220 Arts + Archives, and Now Instant Image Hall. The festival is from April 3 to April 6.
