Catherine Corcoran, the actress and producer known for her role as Dawn in the Terrifier franchise, has launched the production company FareStream Pictures.
The company will focus on daring, passionate storytelling in movies and television, centered on “complex women and underrepresented voices.” Corcoran made a note to emphasize that FareStream will employ safe sets, including “transparent accounting”, “clear profit participation”, “tracked backend reporting for her collaborators,” and intimacy coordinators when necessary. Corcoran said in her own statement,
Creativity and ethical practice can, and must, coexist for art to thrive. Over a decade of experience in this industry has shown me that when artists feel safe, valued, and heard, their work flourishes. FareStream will foster an environment where that kind of courage is prioritized, both on- and off-screen. We champion safety, transparency, fair compensation, and collaboration, as the future of storytelling belongs to companies who know that great art requires great accountability.
Presently, FareStream is in pre-production of By His Hand, a film adaptation of William R. Perry’s mystic novels. Perry also penned the script for the movie. Scout Taylor-Compton, known for her role as Laurie Strode in 2007’s Halloween, will direct, and Lee Waddell is set to produce. FareStream is also in development with a live-action series titled Hera, a reimagining of the Greek Myth. Corcoran will serve as creator and head writer. The company is also working on projects, including a film from Beyond the Gates’ writer-director Jackson Stewart, where Corcoran will serve as producer, and a feature adaptation of the novel The Writing Retreat by Julia Bartz, with an adapted screenplay from Charlie’s Angels’ Evan Spiliotopoulous.
Next, Corcoran will appear and executive-produce the feature Best Friends Forever that is in post-production. She has collaborated with DC vets Kris Longo and Adam Schlagman, along with their Panick Entertainment, to write two anthology comics: The A.M.A. Compannual and Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.
