From humble beginnings, Art the Clown has slashed his way to becoming an icon. Starting as just a side character in the short The Ninth Circle, he quickly became the star when people gravitated towards his design. Creator Damien Leone took that momentum and ran with it, creating the short film Terrifier. Since then, he has appeared in the anthology All Hallows’ Eve and his own feature films, Terrifier, Terrifier 2, and Terrifier 3.
Leone has stayed with Art the Clown through it all, writing and directing the films. He is currently in the process of writing Terrifier 4. According to Leone, this fourth installment will serve as a finale for this chapter in Art the Clown’s story. While Leone is ending this arc, that doesn’t necessarily mean Art is getting discarded entirely after this film. “I am writing it as a finale. But of course, you never say never.”
Producer Phil Falcone added to the discussion, saying:
How many times do you see Part 8 and you go, ‘You should have stopped at Part 4,’
This is something Leon agrees with and acknowledges as a concern, saying that he doesn’t “want the well to run dry.”
Terrifier 4 is currently slated for a 2026 release, according to IMDB. Fans eagerly await seeing how Leone will cap off the series and maintain Art’s ruthless, gruesome reputation.
