Terminator: Dark Fate is officially Rated R. Reported by POM, The MPAA has given Dark Fate an official R rating for violence, language and brief nudity. Over 15 years have passed since a Terminator film was given that rating, with the last being Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. The following films, Terminator Salvation in 09’ and Terminator Genisys in 15’ were deemed PG-13, which added to one of many issues plaguing the franchise. Now that the newest entry has received this label, many are hoping that the ways of old will return in the form of a good movie.
Dark Fate’s filmmakers already aimed for the R label as mentioned back in July during San Diego Comic-Con, giving fans hope. Now that it’s official and James Cameron has returned as producer, expectations are higher than ever. Dark Fate will be a direct sequel to Cameron’s Judgement Day, which was rated R alongside the original back in 1984. This brings the Sci-Fi thriller to its early beginnings and gives director Tim Miller complete freedom to tell whatever story he wants.
The film’s story will be based on a script by Cameron, David Goyer and Justin Rhodes. Add Deadpool director Tim Miller and the return of Linda Hamilton as Sarah Conner, and Dark Fate looks to be the sequel fans have been waiting for. By ignoring the past three films, Miller and company hope to erase the previously sporadic timeline in hopes of having a final product all will enjoy.
