On Tuesday, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced 10 shortlists for the 97th Academy Awards. Among these shortlists were films like Emilia Pérez, The Apprentice, Dune: Part Two, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Nosferatu, Wicked, Challengers, The Wild Robot, Gladiator II, and Blitz.
Here are the 10 categories that announced nominees: documentary feature film (15 nominees), documentary short film (15 nominees), international feature film (15 nominees), makeup and hairstyling (10 nominees), music (original score) (20 nominees), music (original song) (15 nominees), animated short film (15 nominees), live-action short film (15 nominees), sound (10 nominees), and visual effects(10 nominees).
The voting for the Oscars will begin on January 9th at 9 a.m. (PT) and last until 5 p.m. (PT) on January 12th. The 2025 Oscars ceremony itself will be held on March 2nd and televised through ABC. Conan O’Brien will be hosting. Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan are once again the executive producers, and Hamish Hamilton will be the director.
More than 200 countries will be watching this event. It will be exciting to see all the nominees compete for the top spots. There is a very wide array of films in competition this year. From films like Inside Out 2 to Dune: Part Two, a lot is going on. So needless to say, it will be interesting to watch.
