Teaser Trailer, Poster Released for ‘The Walk’

The teaser trailer and poster for the upcoming Robert Zemeckis film The Walk were released today in an Entertainment Weekly exclusive. The trailer features Josepth Gordon-Levitt (Looper) as Philippe Petit, the French aerialist who walked across a tight rope between the World Trade Center Towers in 1974, standing at the edge of one of the towers. The film will follow the story of Petit and how he recruited a number of colleagues to help him string a wire across the towers for him to walk across.

The film is an adaptation of Petit’s book To Reach the Clouds. The story was also told in the Oscar-winning documentary Man On Wire, though that film only included photos from the event. As advertised in the trailer, the new film will be shown in 3D and IMAX 3D. Zemeckis has always been quick to experiment with new technology, from combining animation and live-action in Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)all the way to the motion-capture animation in  The Polar Express (2004), Beowulf (2007)and A Christmas Carol (2009).

The Walk also stars Charlotte Le Bon (The Hundred Foot Journey), James Badge Dale (Iron Man 3), Ben Schwartz (This Is Where I Leave You), and Ben Kingsley (Exodus: Gods and Kings), and will release October 2, 2015.

Tyler Lyon: When Tyler isn't thinking about the lack of a Canadian presence in D2: The Mighty Ducks, whether Princess Leia can now be considered a Disney Princess or discovering 8-bit classics on his 3DS, he's cheering on the Cubs, Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks, and Hawkeyes.
