A Jumanji 2 trailer has released, allowing a closer look at the film, which was announced earlier amongst some dissent. It will star Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black.
As an interesting fact, the film’s IMDB page actually officially refers to the movie as Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and not Jumanji 2. This could just be creative titling, though it may also be a signal explaining that the film is more of a reboot or reworking of an old classic, especially since the catalyst for the movie’s adventure is a video game, not a board game.

This distinction upends the source material in a new and modern way, allowing a distinction between the film and its beginnings. Chris Van Allsburg, who wrote the original children’s book Jumanji also penned the book Zathura, which also involved a dangerous board game which created real life consequences when played. Zathura also spawned a film, starring a young Kristen Stewart and Josh Hutcherson, as well as Dax Shepard.
For those who are excited for more Jumanji material, the teaser promises a new trailer tomorrow. The film will be released on December 20 of the this year, almost exactly twenty two years after the original film’s debut.
