Quentin Tarantino is finally back with his ninth feature film after 4 years since The Hateful 8. His newest film, taking place in the 1960s during the era of the Manson Family murders will be released this summer with the title, Once Upon a Time In Hollywood. The film features an all-star cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and many others portraying various old school Hollywood archetypes and actors of that era.
Sony Pictures has released the first official trailer for the film and it’s basically what many would expect. It starts out introducing Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt’s characters with DiCaprio as actor Rick Dalton and Pitt as his stunt double Cliff Booth. Cliff and Rick both explain in an interview the purpose of a stunt double while a short montage of them accomplishing dangerous stunts appear throughout. More montages appear showcasing Hollywood in the 1960s, showing various stars, mostly DiCaprio, Pitt and Robbie dancing and even a small humorous moment with legendary martial arts actor Bruce Lee. All of this is set to Los Bravos’ Bring A Little Lovin. The trailer ends with DiCaprio being complimented by a little girl on his acting and he starts tearing up over the compliment.
The film feels more classic Tarantino from this first trailer, feeling more like Pulp Fiction in terms of Classic Crime Film Style. It appears a good return to form for the filmmaker. Though considering it’s the first trailer, none of the extreme violence or swearing usually expected to be seen in a Tarantino film has yet to be heavily seen in this new trailer. It’ll only be a matter of time when a Red Band trailer is likely released showcasing more of what to expect from the famous film director. As of now, fans are excited to see what Tarantino will have to offer in his ninth feature film.
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is set to release on July 26th 2019.
