A trailer for Killing Gunther has just come out! Taran Killam (Saturday Night Live) wrote and directed the movie, which has earned an R-rating.
The premise of the film is well-sumarised in the title, as the movie centers around mission to take out Gunther, a virtually unstoppable hitman played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. However, the team embroiled in this mission continually ruins their attempts to complete their goal, serving up scenes that are both frustrating and hilarious. It appears that the film has adopted the practices of an action film and transplanted it into the world of comedy (this was done similarly to much success in the Melissa McCarthy film, Spy, where she starred in James Bond-like comedic adventure). It makes sense: first of all, it will appeal to action fans with the inclusion of Schwarzenegger. Second of all, it will also draw in comedy fans through a roster of well-known names in the funny business, several of whom are SNL alumni.
It seems like Killam will be helming the film both in front of and behind the camera, as his character is the one to devise the plot to kill Gunther. Killam will also be acting alongside his wife, Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother). They will be joined by Aaron Yoo (Disturbia), Hannah Simone (New Girl), Paul Brittain (Hotel Transylvania), Allison Tolman (The Gift), Amir Talai (Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness), Ryan Gaul (The Identity Thief), and Bobby Moynihan (Sisters).
