Big or small, the size of the screen doesn’t matter, Taraji P. Henson (Hidden Figures, Empire) is on fire. The actress just closed a deal to star in Screen Gems’ thriller Proud Mary.
According to Deadline Hollywood, Henson will play a hit woman whose life is upturned when she meets a young boy who awakens the maternal instinct she never knew she had. Penned by John Stewart Newman and Christian Swegal, Proud Mary will be produced by Paul Schiff and Tai Duncan. There currently isn’t anyone in the director’s chair, but the studio is hoping to get production started in April.
Henson continues to impress whether it be on television or film. Her latest film Hidden Figures just beat Rogue One: A Star Wars Story for the number one spot at the box office this past weekend, and her character Cookie Lyon from Fox’s hit show Empire earned her two two Emmy nominations. Empire has since renewed for a fourth season.
