Taormina Film Festival Finalizes Screening Lineup

The 70th Taormina Film Festival is set to open in just a few days. With the opening right around the corner, the lineup for films has been finalized. 

One of the films set to be featured is the upcoming blockbuster Twisters, coming off the 1996 Bill Paxton-led Twister. This time around, Twisters features Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones in the leading roles, alongside Anthony Ramos, Maura Tierney, and Brandon Perea. Also set to screen is Lorcan Finnegan’s The Surfer, which sees Nicolas Cage play an aging surfer get caught up in a turf war with other surfers that pushes him to the edge of his mental limit. 

Deadline reported that there will be a film screened at the fest that will touch upon the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.  Dubbed From Ground Zero, the film will feature the day-to-day lives of those living in Gaza, taking the perspectives of over 20 different directors. 

Also included is Saint Clare, from Mitzi Peirone, which will mark the commencement of the fest. Other screenings will encompass Il giudice ed il boss from Pasquale Scimeca, Touch from Baltasar Kormákur, L’invenzione di noi due from Corrado Ceron, and Riccardo Antonaroli’s new film Finché notte non ci separi.
