The Final Girls will see actress Taissa Farmiga (TV’s American Horror Story) flexing her horror muscles once again. She stars as Max, the daughter of a recently dead movie star who gets transported into one of her mother’s old slasher films called ‘Camp Bloodbath’. She, along with the others who also accidentally found their way into the movie, must find a way to make it out alive and be a part of “the final girls” who kill the murderer at the end of the film.
The slasher comedy also stars Nina Dobrev (TV’s The Vampire Diaries), Malin Akerman (The Proposal), Adam DeVine (Pitch Perfect), Thomas Middleditch (HBO’s Silicon Valley), Alia Shawkat (TV’s Arrested Development), Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games), and Chloe Bridges (TV’s The Carrie Diaries).
Todd Strauss-Shulson, who has had directing stints with Bo Burnham’s scripted show Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous as well as with The Inbetweeners series, directed the film. M.A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller penned the script as their first feature screenplay.
The trailer calls it “the feel good horror movie of the year” and expands on this sentiment with scenes reminiscent of Pleasantville mixed with similar comedic tones of the Scary Movie parodies.
The Final Girls will hit theaters and VOD on October 9.
