Sylvester Stallone Film ‘Samaritan’ Announces Cast And Enters Production

MGM is delving into the superhero genre, as the studio recently announced that their upcoming thriller Samaritan has confirmed its official cast, with production slated to commence next week according to Deadline. Among the confirmed castings are Euphoria star and Junior Olympic boxer Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton as the lead across from stalwart actor Sylvester Stallone. Walton portrays a child who is set on a journey to find a legendary superhero who mysteriously disappeared two decades earlier following a tragic incident, yet is rumored to still be alive.

Next to Walton, Silicon Valley‘s uproarious Martin Starr, Pilou Asbæk, Dascha Polanco, and Moises Arias have all joined the film’s cast. Overlord director Julius Avery is helming the film based on a screenplay from the talent of Bragi F. Schut, who compiled Escape Room. Additional writing credits include Mark L. Smith, Zak Penn, and Chuck MacLean.

Samaritan is based on a original concept created by Schut. The film is scheduled for a December 11, 2020 release date through United Artists Releasing, with Universal handling the foreign distribution. Stallone and Braden Aftergood will produce Samaritan through the former’s Balboa Productions banner as the first in a series of projects. Schut will act as the film’s executive producer.
