It’s been announced that Sydney Lemmon will play the mother of Charlie, the lead character of Blumhouse’s feature reboot of the Stephen King 1980 novel Firestarter. Blumhouse is collaborating with Universal and Weed Road Pictures and Lemmon will also be the wife of Zac Efron’s character in the film.
Firestarter centers on a young girl who develops pyrokinetic abilities and is later abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her gift as a weapon. As Deadline reports, actress Ryan Kiera Armstrong will play Charlie. She has also been featured in American Horror Story and The Tomorrow War.
Lemmon recently starred as Ana Helstrom in the Marvel/Hulu series, Helstrom. She previously guest-starred in HBO’s Emmy-winning series Succession and AMC’s Fear of the Walking Dead, where she received a Saturn Award Nomination. She was also seen in Dan Gilroy’s Velvet Buzzsaw, an official selection of the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Her next independent feature will be in Plain Fiction.
