Collider reports that the upcoming 20th Century Studios thriller No Exit will now head directly to Hulu in the United States and Star+ and Disney+ internationally in late February instead of premiering in theaters.
No Exit, based on the novel of the same name by Taylor Adams, follows Darby Thorne, a woman on her way to attend a family emergency when she becomes caught up in a blizzard. In order to get home, she is forced to take shelter at a highway rest stop and find solace in the strangers in her company. However, she finds a girl who has seemingly been abducted in a van. Darby now must face a life-and-death struggle to discover the kidnapper amongst the strangers that surround her.
The film was originally set for a theatrical release, but with the ongoing COVID pandemic affecting theater attendance for smaller films, 20th Century Studios made the choice to pull the film and release it straight to streaming. No Exit’s release to Disney’s streaming platforms both domestically and internationally allows for more accessibility to films that would otherwise struggle for recognition.
Damien Power, who previously helmed 2017’s Killing Ground, directs. Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, the writing duo who both worked on the Marvel film Ant-Man and the Wasp, pen the script. No Exit stars Havana Rose Liu as Darby, alongside Danny Ramirez, David Rysdahl, Mila Harris, and Dennis Haysbert.
No Exit will stream on Hulu in the United States on February 25.
