Fans finally got to witness the newest take on the Man of Steel when James Gunn unveiled Superman earlier this year. Even with an unexpected twist thrown into the mix, fans are looking to next year’s Supergirl to iron out the details of what the curveball may hold in store.
The ending of Superman saw Kal-El reunite with his cousin, Kara Zor-El, as she makes landfall on Earth following a bender in galaxies where she can get drunk. Upon greeting her cousin, Kara, also known as Supergirl, takes her leave with Krypto in tow, setting up the next film in the DC Universe.
What fans are left wondering is if Kara was sent to Earth with the same intention that Kal-El was. Gunn’s Superman changed the usual narrative audiences are used to, making it so that Clark finds out he was sent to Earth by Jor-El and Lara not to assist the inhabitants, but to rule over them. But they get their answer next summer, as a comment from Supergirl actor David Krumholtz confirms a further elaboration on the goals of Krypton.
Krumholtz, who will play Kara’s father Jor-El, spoke to Nerdtropolis, sharing what the film holds in store but being very careful not to give too much away.
“I’ll just say that I’m thrilled to be the next piece of telling the story of Krypton and further clarifying what the House of El is all about,” he said on the matter, according to ScreenRant.
Supergirl hits theaters June 26th.
