Superman: Legacy To Launch New DC Cinematic Universe

Written by new DC head James Gunn, Superman: Legacy will follow Kal-El as he reconciles his extraterrestrial origins with his human family and upbringing. From the sounds of it, Superman: Legacy will function as a reboot of 2013’s Man of Steel (directed by Zack Snyder) with one crucial difference: Henry Cavill will not be reprising his role as the Man of Tomorrow. Gunn hasn’t announced who will wear the cape, but he seems to be looking for a younger actor to play The Man of Steel.

Gunn told IGN, “It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing,” said Safran. “Superman represents truth, justice, and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old-fashioned.”

Superman: Legacy is set to start the new DCU, which Safran and Gunn are calling “Gods and Monsters,” which is set to begin after the events of the Flash film, which, like the comic Flashpoint, seem to function as the nexus point for the new universe, just as flashpoint was for DC Comics and the beginning of New 52. the film is set to be released on July 11, 2025.
