The Fox Searchlight Pictures-produced sequel to the 2001 movie Super Troopers has officially revealed its teaser trailer. It gives a look at the characters, who are state troopers, as they begin their latest job. While the film did not gross much during its box office run, it gained a surprising popularity and fond reputation from audiences in the time to come.
Jay Chandrasekhar (The Goldbergs) has been essential to the film: not only did he direct it, but he is also among the writers and actors of the sequel. Chandrasekhar penned the script along with fellow returning stars Erik Stolhansk (Beerfest), Steve Lemme (The Dukes of Hazzard), Kevin Heffernan (The Slammin’ Salmon), and Paul Soter (Club Dread). They will join a large cast, which also includes names such as Fred Savage (Friends from College), Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman), and Rob Lowe (Parks and Recreation), Will Sasso (The Three Stooges), and Brian Cox (The Bourne Identity).
This is not their first return to Super Troopers. In 2015, they aired a short called Super Troopers: Bootcamp. However, this is their first feature length film for the characters in seventeen years. Like its predecessor, it also has an R-rating.
The sequel’s trailer can be viewed below.
Super Troopers 2 will hit theaters on April 20, 2018.
