Super Mario Galaxy hung onto its first place crown for the second weekend with 69 million finish for a sophomore outing. Despite the harsh critic reviews fans continue to flock to Illumination and Nintendo’s foray into a Cinematic Universe. Second place this week went to Project Hail Mary with a 24.5 million catch in it’s fourth week slipping out past many newcomers that climbed their way up into the top 10.
Despite Robert Patterson and Zendaya as the star studded leads A24’s new thriller The Drama still struggles to make an impact only bringing in 8.7 million in its second week I’m just beating out it’s competition You, Me & Tuscany which netted 8 million for its opening week. Disney Pixar’s Hoppers continued to dominate taking 5th place with 4.1 million after 6 weeks in theaters.
The concert film BTS World Tour which only played in theaters for Saturday netted 1.7 million and a sixth place finish for this week as the first of the specialty box office. Falling behind in seventh place is indie horror film Faces of Death which netted 1.7 million. Hailing overseas from Japan the film adaptation of the hit horror videoExit 8makes its domestic premiere opening to 1.4 million in theaters. The next second week a Great Awakening and dropped down tonight bringing home 1.4 million. Reminders of Him after 5 weeks has dropped down to tenth and will likely be taking its final bow after bringing in 1 million for this weekend.
