Sundance Institute Names Participants For Producers Lab And Producers Intensive

The Sundance Institute has named who will participate in the Producers Lab and Producers Intensive. The Producers Lab is taking place July 24-28 at Utah’s Sundance Mountain Resort, and the Producers Intensive takes place in the fall. The Labs aim to create communities, build a lasting career, and develop their skills further.

The feature film producers that are participating in the Producers Lab include Julia Kenelly (Clare), Valerie Castillo Martinez (Anita), Pierre M. Coleman (Ricky), Liz Lian (Skin), and Camero Morton (Lollygag). The producers in documentary projects participating include Colleen Cassingham (Life After), Emma D. Miller (Untitled Mistress Dispeller Project), Nicole Docta (The Dead Zone), Flor de Oreo Tejada (Wild Darlings Sing the Blues (And It’s a Song of Freedom)), and Jolene Pinder (Fun House).

The Producers Intensive participants on the fiction side are Paula González-Nasser (Saca Tu Lengua), Alifya Ali and Samantha Skinner (‘06-‘07), Xin Li (Santa Anita), Kyr Knox (South Side Girls), and Tony Yang (Let The Sleepers Lie). The nonfiction side participants are Karla Claudio-Betancourt (Matininó), Artemis Fannin (Untitled Epilepsy Documentary), Chelsea Moore (Untitled Texas Doc), Brit Fryer (Adam’s Apple), and Alan Domínguez (Commerce City).

The Producers Lab offers participants project-specific support. This could be one-on-one or group meetings with veteran advisors, guidance, and a two-day workshop. The Producers Intensive offers producers in underrepresented communities professional, creative, and strategic development support.

The advisors of the Feature Producers Lab are Nina Yang Bongiovi (Fruitvale Station), Jordana Mollick (Spoiler Alert), Anish Savjani (Showing Up), Elsa Ramo (Ramo Law PC, Joyland), and Neil Kopp (Showing Up). The documentary side includes Sabaah Folayan (Look at Me: XXXTentacion), Andrea Meditch (Fathom), Diane Quon (Unseen), Bob Moore (Midwives), and Cristina Ibarra (The Infiltrators).

Documentary Film Program Deputy Director Kristen Feeley and the Producing and Artist Support Director, Shira Rockowiz, said that the ever-changing media landscape creates new challenges for creating original work. They have been impressed and inspired by the producers and their projects.
