The first annual Sundance CDMX film festival is just around the corner and the event has just announced its film lineup.
According to Variety, the event, which will also be headed by Cinépolis, one of the biggest theater companies in Mexico and Latin America, will have 12 feature length films as well as six Mexican short films for film enthusiasts to explore.
Some of these short films include Chica de Fábrica, Motociclista no le Cabe la Felicidad en su Traje, and La Odisea Espeleológica de Sócrates.
As for the feature length films, some of them include popular indie films such as A24’s Love Lies Bleeding and Oscar winner for Best Documentary 20 Days in Mariupol, as well as other features such as Your Monster and In The Summers.
The film festival will be held from April 25-28 in Mexico City, but will be having screenings in a variety of Cinépolis locations. These include the VIP Miyana, VIP Perisur, VIP Mitikah, VIP Satélite, and Cinépolis Diana.
Cinépolis CEO Alejandro Ramírez says that the event will be much more than just a showcase of independent films, it will be a place for people to explore and learn about the creativity of the independent film world.
“We are thrilled to bring this celebration of cinema to Mexico City and to provide a platform for filmmakers and audiences to engage in meaningful conversations about the power of film to inspire, educate, and transform,” Ramírez said.
