Sun Valley Film Festival has announced that it will be honoring Shaka King, Gal Gadot and Ethan Hawke at its 10th annual festival, which will take place virtually April 14-18. Hawke and Gadot will be recognized for their contributions to the art of cinema, while King will be honored with the Pioneer Award, which is being presented by Variety.
Hawke has spent over three decades as an actor in the industry, from starring in Richard Linklater’s Before Trilogy, to starring alongside Denzel Washington in Training Day. The actor has earned four Academy Award Nominations and recently made his TV debut in Showtime’s The Good Lord Bird.
Gadot hasn’t been in Hollywood as long as Hawke, but her mark on the industry has most definitely been made. Her name is forever attached to the cinematic legacy of Wonder Woman, she executive produced the National Geographic documentary series Impact, and she’s set to star in Fox’s remake of the 1978 mystery film, Death on the Nile.
King is being awarded for his spirit and innovation as a filmmaker. Judas and the Black Messiah, his directorial debut, received six Academy Award nominations this year, including a nomination for Best Picture. He’s also directed episodes of TV shows like Shrill, Random Acts of Flyness, People of Earth and High Maintenance.
The virtual festival will consist of film screenings, moderated Q&As, Filmmakers Forums, a Screenwriters Lab and “coffee talks” with Hawke, King and Gadot.
