STXfilms has picked up U.S. distribution rights to Amy Schumer’s new comedy I Feel Pretty. The title was selling at the Cannes Film Market. Voltage will finance the film and is currently selling international distribution rights.
The team of Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein, who together wrote popular romantic film fare such as He’s Just Not That Into You and The Vow, penned the screenplay and will make their directorial debut with the comedy. Schumer will produce, along with Wonderland Sound & Vision’s McG and Mary Viola and Voltage Pictures’ Alissa Phillips, Dominic Rustam and Nicolas Chartier. Jonathan Decker will executive produce for Voltage.
The story centers on a woman (Schumer) who struggles daily with feelings of insecurity and inadequacy. Following an accident, she wakes up with the confident belief that she is beautiful and capable. Her life completely turns around as her attitude shifts to one of fearlessness.
STXfilms has also picked up another Kohn-Siliverstein writing project, as yet untitled, set to star Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway (Colossal). Schumer can currently be seen in the comedy Snatched.
Shooting on I Feel Pretty begins in July in Boston.
