According to The Hollywood Reporter, there is a sequel to the Aardman Animation and Studio Canal 2015 stop motion claymation film Shaun the Sheep Movie currently in the early production stages. In 2015, Shaun was nominated for an Oscar and earned $106 million worldwide. The new film will be directed again by Richard Starzak. However this time he will work alone and not co-direct as he did with Mark Burton for the first film.
StudioCanal is coming off the success of Paddington, which came out in 2014 and itself has a sequel forthcoming. StudioCanal is also responsible for the 1995 Oscar winning Wallace & Gromit. Shaun the sheep, as a character first debuted in the short, Wallace & Gromit: A Close Shave. The film’s production title has been released as Shaun the Sheep Movie 2 and will be distributed across its own domains such as U.K, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.
Pre-production will start in January of 2017 while their current film in production, Early Man – set to come out in 2018, finishes.
