Minari Oscar-nom Steven Yeun is set to feature in Jordan Peele’s secretive project scheduled for a Summer 2022 premiere, Deadline reports. The plot or genre of Peele’s next project has yet to be revealed, but Keke Palmer and Daniel Kaluuya are said to also be onboard.
The project will be the third installment in a 5-year contract made between Universal and Jordan Peele and Ian Cooper’s Monkeypaw Productions. The previous two installments involved in the deal include Peele’s prolific directorial debut Get Out followed by 2019’s Us. Like his previous films and in true auteur-fashion, Peele will write and direct the project, which has been given a release-date of July 22, 2022.
Steven Yeun is most definitely a hot-commodity in Hollywood, coming off his Oscar-nom for Best Actor in a Leading Role for Minari, which has garnered a whopping 6 Academy Award nominations in total.
Seoul-born Yeun is also well known for playing fan-favorite Glenn on AMC’s The Walking Dead, his role in Netflix’s Okja, directed by Bong Joon Ho and 2019 indie flick Burning. His upcoming projects include a collaborative reunion with A24 on the film The Humans, co-starring Richard Jenkins, Amy Schumer and Beanie Feldstein, and the Netflix series Beef alongside Ali Wong.
Peele’s Summer 2022 project will be produced by Cooper and Peele for Monkeypaw. Universal’s Senior Vice-President of Production Sara Scott and Creative Executive Tony Ducet will oversee production.
