The comic book film industry has been awash with great news lately! John Ridley’s The American Way is going to be its own feature film; Cathy Yan will helm a Harley Quinn movie; and Ava DuVernay will tackle New Gods. Now, CNN has broken the news that Steven Spielberg is set to become one of the greats amongst DC’s moviemakers. He will be taking on Blackhawk. The legendary filmmaker will be working with Warner Brothers Pictures and Amblin Entertainment for the film.
Spielberg has created so much throughout his historic career, but this will be his first superhero movie. The titular protagonist of Blackhawk is a World War II pilot and he is in charge of a whole group of fellow flying aces.
It is unclear what exactly Spielberg’s role in the film will be, but he is reportedly hoping to claim a seat in the director’s chair.
