Beloved and legendary director and producer Steven Spielberg recently sat down with The Late Show host Stephen Colbert (Deadline).
Within the interview, Spielberg is asked if there is anything he would tell a younger version of himself regarding his previous works. Spielberg replies,
This is why I don’t look at a lot of my movies after I’ve made them… but, uh, every once in a while I’ll see a movie with my kids… I want to accompany my kids when they see E.T. for the first time… and sometimes I see things that I intended to do but didn’t do, and sometimes I see things that would have been a better idea than when I’m now seeing all those years later
With a smirk, Spielberg cheekily tells Colbert: “But for the most part, E.T. is a pretty perfect movie.” With cheers from the audience, Spielberg’s choice of a “pretty perfect” film from his repertoire is met with unanimous agreement.
Steven Spielberg has an impressive fifty-four-plus-year career. He is known for his involvement in Jaws, Indiana Jones, Schindler’s List, and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial –among many others. One of his upcoming anticipated projects includes a musical adaptation of The Color Purple and another sequel to Indiana Jones.
