Actor Steve Zahn has been casted as the lead for the upcoming film Gringa, which will be directed by E.J. Foerster according to Deadline. Foerster, who previously acted as a second unit director on The Greatest Showman, Godzilla, and The Twilight Saga, will also serve as producer alongside Marny Eng, Jeff G Waxman, Eric Heyadt and David Brown, with the script being written by Patrick Hasburgh. Foerster’s film is a coming-of-age dramedy fixating on the relationship between a father and his daughter. Shooting is expected to begin this fall, with Clear Horizon distributing the film.
The film’s executive producer David Brown also served the aforementioned role in the Sundance film After the Wedding, which starred Julianne Moore, Michelle Williams and Billy Crudup. Brown also had a hand in the film Finding Steve McQueen, which featured a cast that included Travis Fimmel, Rachael Taylor, and Forest Whitaker. Brown is currently represented by UTA.
Zahn was previously seen in National Geographic six-part miniseries Valley of the Boom, and will play a role in the Neflix film Tall Girl. Zahn has also maintained starring roles in several recent blockbusters such as War For the Planet of the Apes, Captain Fantastic, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. He too is represented by UTA and Principal Entertainment.
