An adaptation of a 2020 Stephen King novella starring Tom Hiddleston will close the first edition of the SXSW festival in London, Variety reports.
Written and directed by Mike Flanagan, who previously helmed The Haunting Of Hill House, Midnight Mass, Doctor Sleep, and The Fall Of The House Of Usher, The Life Of Chuck follows a man named Charles “Chuck” Krantz whose life is seen in three acts, played out in reverse, as the world around him starts to crumble mysteriously.
The film, which previously premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and won its People’s Choice Award last year, will now be the closing film for the new London branch of South By Southwest (SXSW), which runs from June 2nd through the 7th.
Described as “life-affirming” and in the vein of King’s more dramatic work, such as The Shawshank Redemption and Stand By Me, The Life Of Chuck will be given a wide release in the U.K. on August 22nd and a limited release on June 6th before releasing wide on June 13th in the U.S.
Distributed by Neon, The Life of Chuck will also star Mark Hamill, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Jacob Tremblay, Annalise Basso, Mia Sara, Matthew Lillard, Carl Lumbly, Samantha Sloyan, Harvey Guillen, and Kate Siegel.
