Rumors are swirling that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’s newest trailer will be shown during the Patriots vs. Jets Monday Night Football game on Oct. 21st. The much anticipated sequel is set conclude the Skywalker saga, with many believing that tickets will go on sale the moment the trailer ends during halftime.
October is a familiar time for Disney to broadcast Star Wars-related material, since both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi were shown during similar Monday Night Football time-frames. Since October 21st was the late Carrie Fisher’s birthday, one could even look at this choice of date as a clever homage from Disney to the actress and fans alike. This isn’t an uncommon marketing approach for blockbuster films, as they usually debut on large platforms such as NFL games.
Given how Disney already owns the rights to ESPN, it would only make sense for them to push the final installment of their beloved franchise at a time where it will get millions of views. If there aren’t any delays, fans will be delighted to know that they inch that much closer to seeing the finale when it comes to an end on Dec. 20th.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is directed by J.J Abrams and produced by Kathleen Kennedy. The cast includes Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnhall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Bille Lourd, Naomi Ackie, Richard E.
