Although news of the scrapped Hunt For Ben Solo film has left some fans reeling, the Star Wars franchise still has two movies on the horizon in the form of The Mandalorian & Grogu, as well as Starfighter. Little is known about Starfighter in terms of its story at this point, but director Shawn Levy commented on just how the film will fit into the timeline.
As stated, the plot details of Starfighter are kept under wraps. With a cast led by Ryan Gosling, Amy Adams, and Flynn Gray, the story has been promised to take place in a time period that any film in the saga have not yet journeyed into.
Collider got the chance to speak directly with Levy, and the topic of Starfighter was one that was discussed at length. Levy didn’t shy away from elaborating on some of the filmmaking tactics that the production crew has been utilizing, but he also shed some light on the story of Starfighter.
“Well, for one thing, it is different in that it is an all-new non-sequel, non-prequel adventure,” Levy said on the story’s timeframe.
He would go on to explain that their drive is to give the audience a fresh story, and one that is evocative of the tone and scope of the original Star Wars.
Star Wars: Starfighter hits theaters May 2027.
